Something exciting has just taken shape inside the Museo dei Bambini Lecce: a new hands-on STEM experience created in partnership with Hape, one of the world’s leaders in educational play.
Together, we’re bringing two of their most innovative systems to the heart of Puglia — inviting kids into real engineering challenges, real circuits, and the kind of joyful experimentation that builds confidence from the inside out.
What Is STEM?
STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics — but for children, it’s much simpler than that. It’s the natural instinct to explore how things work: why a ball rolls, how light travels, what makes a tower stand, or how energy moves from place to place. STEM learning happens through hands-on play, not memorization. When kids build, test, question, and try again, they develop problem-solving skills, creativity, and confidence that will support them for the rest of their lives.
What’s New in the Museum
Quadrilla Engineering System
A world-class wooden engineering platform where children explore gravity, sequencing, and structural logic through marble runs they design, test, rebuild, and expand with endless imagination.
Circuit Lab
A child-friendly introduction to electronics that lets young makers experiment with switches, connectors, and flowing energy — turning invisible concepts into something they can actually build and understand.
These systems now integrated into our permanent exhibits and science-play areas.
Why It Matters
At Museo dei Bambini Lecce, we’re focused on raising young thinkers who are curious, resilient, and naturally collaborative. STEM, for us, isn’t a subject to memorize — it’s a mindset. A way for children to learn how the world works by experimenting with it, step by step, spark by spark.
And as our children grow, the museum grows with them. We’re building a place that connects them to inspiring ideas, global perspectives, and opportunities from around the world — all right here in Lecce.
